Trauma, Depression & Life Transitions
In addition to supporting new parents during and after pregnancy, I also provide therapy to people experiencing general anxiety and stress, depression, trauma-related issues, relationship/interpersonal challenges, divorce, as well as grief and loss.
If you’re not sure when to start therapy, here are some indications that now is a good time:
There is an issue in your life that takes up a lot of your time and your mental/emotional energy. It’s hard to focus, sleep, or stay present.
The issue has negatively affected school, work, parenting, or relationships.
Your reactions are disproportionate to the situation.
You don’t feel motivated or enthusiastic about life anymore.
You’re always trying to fix or control things, but you never feel like you have control of anything.
Something in your life causes enough worry, fear, embarrassment, or guilt that you avoid people, places, or situations.
Your quality of life has significantly decreased.
You constantly feel like you’re accommodating or adapting your life to the issue.
How Therapy Can Help
Emotional Healing
When you begin to heal emotional wounds, something amazing happens: You feel free. Rather than being preoccupied with a need to escape or avoid, you’ll develop the courage to navigate problems effectively and go after your dreams.
Acceptance
By accepting what is and then working wisely and effectively with your circumstances, you’ll learn to change what can be changed. Imagine meeting all aspects of your life with open eyes and open arms!
Self-Awareness
You’re going to learn a lot about yourself; what you like and what you want out of life. When we see ourselves clearly, we are more confident and more creative, we make sounder decisions, build stronger relationships, and communicate more effectively.
